I am all for book series, in fact, I very rarely read stand alone’s. I seem to always be drowning in series that I need to finish, but instead, I start new ones (typical). Despite the large amount of book series I consume I very rarely don’t finish one. So today I’m going to share with you all the book series I will not be finishing. I love these little controversial posts but please don’t get offended if one of your beloved series is on this list, you are completely entitled to your opinion.
1. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Let’s start this post out with some drama! I know what you’re thinking not Twilight! Although I haven’t read the all the Twilight books, I was still completely obsessed with the Twilight series. I’ve seen all the movies more times than I can count and I’ve read the first book. I enjoyed the first book but then New Moon (the movie) came out. I thought it was kind of, well, terrible and it just put me off reading the second book. Now it’s years later and (I think) I’ve moved past my Twilight phase and have no interest in reading the rest of the books.
2. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
I’ve read and watched the first book/movie and enjoyed them both. And while I had no problems with the story, it just didn’t stick out to me. It’s dark, weird, and a little twisted so normally I would love it. But unfortunately, this book just didn’t leave any lingering feelings of affection in me.
3. And I Darken by Kiersten White
This book did happen to leave me with a lot of feelings, but not the good kind. This book was marketed as an action-packed fantasy style book with a bad ass main character. Is that what you get? No. This book is in fact, a historical fiction. What is one genre I never read? Historical fiction. My anger is not with this book itself, had it been marketed as what it was I would never have picked it up. But instead, I struggled through 200 pages before giving up out of boredom.
4. The Edge of Everything by Jeff Giles
This was another book that was supposed to be full of constant action. It was okay and I managed to get through it but the entire thing was a little strange. The book didn’t stick in my memory at all and I just remember it being a bit confusing. And the insta-love was incredibly unbearable.
5. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
I was so excited for this book, darkness, gore, and a serial killer, yes please! But what I got was a mess that I don’t have the energy to go into. I have a full post about all my issues with this book, so if you would like to check that out you can click here.
6. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
This is the one series that’s not set in stone. I first read and loved these books back in high school. But unfortunately, I didn’t continue past book three. It’s not that I didn’t want to, I just never got around to them. I have no owned the whole series for a few years and as much I keep planning on reading the last three books I just never do. So maybe one day it will happen, we can only hope.
