August Wrap Up – 2017

Let’s not reminisce on this month’s events and instead jump straight into this late Wrap-Up.

1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling (The Harry Potter series, Book 7)

5/5 Stars

I finally finished my Harry Potter re-read, you know what that means it’s time to do it again! As soon as my forever expanding TBR pile goes down a little bit (if that ever happens).

2. Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (The Shatter Me trilogy, Book 1)
3.5/5 Stars

Oh Shatter Me, I have so many feelings for you. Not all good, not all bad, mostly you fill me with frustration and make me question why? Why is this happening, why am I reading this, and why do I kind of like it? If you would like to read all my thoughts on Shatter Me you can read my review by clicking here.

3. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi (The Shatter Me trilogy, Book 2)
2/5 Stars

Unravel Me brought even more questions and frustrations. Once again you can click here to read the review (rant?) of Unravel Me.

4. Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer by Rick Riordan (The Magnus Chase series, Book 1)
4/5 Stars

After numerously picking up a heap of books, reading a few pages and then putting them back down I finally found the book to end my book slump (we can thank Unravel Me for that little slump). I thought to myself, It’s Rick Riordan what can go wrong? And yes I was right. Magnus Chase was everything the Percy Jackson series is, but with more diversity and more mythology. With a new world, set of characters and adventure this series is leading on to great things. You can read this without having read Percy Jackson but I highly recommend giving both a try.

5. Cress by Marissa Meyer (The Lunar Chronicles series, Book 3)
4.5/5 Stars

This series continues to impress with every book. I have to say this is my favourite so far and I honestly can’t express how excited I am for the last book. The story is heating up and every new character is someone new to fall in love with. With scifi, romance, action, political drama, what more could you want?

I can’t believe I actually managed to read five books this month. What did you read this month? Let me know down below!

5 is a solid number! I got through 6 in August mostly because I had to finish a couple of novels for school. I was pleasantly surprised by The Grapes of Wrath (4/5 stars) but I was not a fan of Kate Chopin’s The Awakening (2/5). Really glad that you’re reading the Lunar Chronicles, though! I loved it 🙂
